The Story

Cyber Security: Importance & Challenges

The 5th Uttarakhand Youth Talk was organised on 3rd February 2024 at KP Nautiyal Auditorium, Graphic Era Hill University, Dehradun, in collaboration with NSS Graphic Era Hill University. The event raised awareness about the rapidly rising cybercrime issues in Uttarakhand โ€” a state that ranks fourth in the nation for cyber fraud cases per NCRB data. The Chief Guest, Mr. Ashok Kumar (IPS), Former DGP of Uttarakhand and author of "Cyber Encounter", spoke on the challenges faced by law enforcement in combating cybercrime, the evolution of digital crimes from phishing and sextortion to deepfake fraud, and the role of youth in building a cyber-safe society. Mr. Parth Upadhyay moderated the session. Participants engaged in deep discussions on cybercrime prevention strategies and the Data Protection Bill.
